Sunderland target happy with English link
Mexican sensation Nestor Calderon has welcomed reported interest from Sunderland and admits he would like the chance to move to England.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play up front, only made his first-team debut for Toluca last season. But he shone immediately and in little over 12 months he has already made his debut for Mexico.
Calderon has started this season in fine style with five goals in 10 games, and now he is understood to be on the radar of a number of European clubs with Sunderland leading the race for his signature.
"To tell the truth this news about me being transferred to Sunderland has taken me by surprise because I really don't know anything about it," he told Televisa Deportes.
Dream
"Of course it's a dream for me to play in England, it would be very important for my career. But for the moment it's only a rumour, so until somebody comes to me and tells me it's true I will take it as a rumour. I will be waiting for official news."I don't know how to take this information but if there is a proposal I will see if I go or what to do.
"Personally, to have the chance to play in Europe is a dream and it's makes me emotional to think that my name is known in England, but I will have to wait."
Calderon's former Toluca team-mate Pauldo Da Silva moved to Sunderland in the summer and he admits he would relish the chance to link-up with him again.
"It would be very nice to have the chance to play again with Paulo Da Silva so I hope that I have official news soon," he added.
